Sophie and Jansie are two adolescent girls who have just returned from school. They're both employed in a biscuit plant. Sophie is immersed in her fantasies of having a boutique and being renowned like fashion designer Mary Quaint. Jansie warns her against dreaming big because it will cost them a lot of money, which they don't have. She responds that she plans to become an actress, earn a lot of money, and then open a store. Jansie, who is a practical person, does not agree with her beliefs. 

सोफी और जानसी दो किशोरियां हैं जो अभी-अभी स्कूल से लौटी हैं। दोनों एक बिस्किट प्लांट में काम करते हैं। सोफी एक बुटीक रखने और फैशन डिजाइनर मैरी क्वांट की तरह प्रसिद्ध होने की अपनी कल्पनाओं में डूबी हुई है। जानसी उसे बड़े सपने देखने के खिलाफ चेतावनी देती है क्योंकि उसके लिए उन्हें बहुत सारा पैसा खर्च करना पड़ेगा, जो उनके पास नहीं है। वह जवाब देती है कि वह एक अभिनेत्री बनेगी, बहुत पैसा कमायेगी और फिर एक स्टोर खोलेगी,  यही उसकी योजना है। जान्सी, जो एक व्यावहारिक व्यक्ति है, उसके विश्वासों से सहमत नहीं है।

Sophie feels strangled as she enters the small house, which is filled with the steam from the stove and appears messy due to the dirty dishes. Her father is eating, while her mother is preparing a meal. She goes to see her older brother Geoff, a trainee mechanic who is working on a motorcycle part. Geoff doesn't discuss much about his personal life, which has led her to envision his personal life, which she finds fascinating and wants to be a part of. She tells him a secret: she met Danny Casey, a famous footballer, at a boutique. Her father and brother don't think she's telling the truth. But she attempts to persuade them otherwise. Her rendezvous with Casey is also revealed to her brother. Her brother does not trust her, but he does give her a chance to convince her that she is telling the truth.

Sophie and her family go to a football game on Saturday because they are all huge football enthusiasts. Casey's goal gives their favoured team the victory. They're all giddy with delight. Jansie interrogates Sophie when she returns home with her younger brother Derek about the reality of her rendezvous with Danny Casey. Sophie is enraged at her brother for revealing her secret, but she manages the issue successfully. She then goes to a hidden location beside a canal to see her idol Casey, who fails to appear. She knows it was all in her head, but she was so engrossed in his affection that she didn't want to go. She eventually comes home, her heart heavy with despair. When she arrives across the Royce's store, however, she becomes engrossed in her hero's fantasies once more.
