‘The Book that Saved the Earth’ is a play that is set in the future. In fact, it takes place in the twenty-fifth century. The museum of Ancient History in witness to the play. The narrator, who happens to be a historian, says to his students about Earth having been occupied by people from Mars, called Martians in the play. He says that this happens in the twenty-first century, but a book of nursery rhymes ends up saving our planet!

According to the historian, ‘Think-Tank’, who happens to have complete control over Mars by way of administering it, is nothing more than an arrogant fool. He has plans of invading Earth and he shares this plan with one Noodle, asking him to obtain as much information as possible. Interestingly, Noodle figures that Lieutenant Iota and Sergeant Oop, along with Captain Omega, were spending time in a library.

The library was Centerville Public Library. And they were not whiling away their time but trying to identify objects. Surprisingly, they had never come upon a book, and Think-Tank thus ends up forming an opinion that books are nothing more than a refreshment. He wants them to be eaten.

He then assumes that they are some sort of satellite and he ordered Omega to decipher them. He reads some super interesting nursery rhymes including ‘The Cat and the Fiddle’ and ‘Mistress Mary’. The ruler of Mars interpreted the poems wrongly, thus concluding that people on Earth are planning to launch an attack on Mars.

A spooked Think-Tank plans on emigrating to Alpha Centauri, a celestial object situated a hundred million miles away from Mars. Noodle then befriends the people on earth and starts administering the planet. The Earth gets saved by a book of nursery rhymes.
