Answer the following questions.

Why was the king advised to go to magicians?
Answer: To answer the king’s first question to decide the right time to
do something, some wise men suggested that one must have to look into the
future to decide it and that can be done by magicians only. Hence, the king was
advised to go to the magicians.

In answer to the second question, whose advice did the people say would be
important to the king?
Answer: For the second question, the wise men suggested that the king
should listen to his councillors, the priest, the doctor, or the
soldiers.

What suggestions were made in answer to the third question?
Answer: For the third question, some wise men suggested that science
should be of the priority and some said that religion should be on top
priority.

Did the wise men win the reward? If not, why not?
Answer: No, they didn’t win the reward as the king was not satisfied with

Answer: They helped the man by sheltering him. The king cleaned the wound
of the man and dressed it to control the flow of the blood. The king gave him
fresh water to drink. Then, the king and the hermit took the man inside the hut
and let him sleep for the night.
6. (i) Who was the bearded man?
Answer: He was an enemy of the king and came to take
revenge for his brother’s death and seized property.
(ii) Why did he ask for the king’s forgiveness?
Answer: He had come to kill the king but instead the
king saved his life. Hence, he regretted it and asked for the king’s
forgiveness.

The king forgave the bearded man. What did he do to show his forgiveness?
Answer: To show his
forgiveness, the king sent his doctors and servants to look after his health
and also promised to return his property.

1. Why does the poet say the squirrel “wore a question mark for tail”? Draw a squirrel, or find a picture of a squirrel sitting on the ground. How would you describe its tail?
Answer: The poet sees the tail of the squirrel is
raised upward and the tip of the tail is bent downward that looks like a
question mark. Hence, the poet says the squirrel ‘wore a question mark for its
tail’.

Do we usually say that an animal ‘wears’ a tail? What do we say? (Think: Does
an animal wear a coat? Consult a dictionary if you like, and find out how
‘wear’ is used in different ways.)
Answer: Usually, we don’t say that an animal ‘wears’ a tail. We say that
an animal has a tail.
3.
“He liked to tease and play”. Who is teasing whom? How?
Answer: The squirrel is teasing the poet. When the poet runs around the tree, the squirrel also runs around the tree but in the opposite direction to tease and play with the poet.
