Paragraph 1
Introduction
It is all about developing intelligent machines that can simulate the human brain and work/behave like human beings.
We can define Artificial Intelligence (AI) as - it is a branch of computer science that deals with developing intelligent machines which can behave like human, think like human, and has ability to take decisions by their own.
History
John McCarthy is said to be the father of Artificial Intelligence. The development of this technique started in 1950s, but its importance was recognized in the 1970s when Japan first took the initiative, and in the year 1981 started a plan called Fifth Generation.
In the year 2006, AI came into the business world. And now, top companies like Facebook, Twitter, Netflix, etc. are using AI in their applications.
Paragraph 2
Types of AI
It has four types base on its functionalities.
1. Reactive Machine
It doesn't store memories or past actions. It focuses on current scenarios and works as per the requirement. IBM's Deep Blue is an example of a reactive machine.
2. Limited Memory
It can store some memory or past actions for a limited time period. Some examples of limited memory are Self-driving cars.
3. Theory of Mind
It is capable of understanding human emotions, and interact with humans in its own way. However, such AI machines are not yet developed. Developers and researchers are making efforts for creating such AI-enabled machines.
4. Self-awareness
It is the future of AI. It will have its own awareness, sentiments, and consciousness. This AI is only a hypothetical concept, and will take a long journey to be created/developed.
Paragraph 3
Applications of AI
Health Sector: AI can help in surgery, supervision, etc. Treatment can be done in rural areas with its help. It'll also help us in finding new drugs with the use of historical data and medical intelligence.
Defense/security Sector: Robots can be used in place of soldiers in war or on the border. Also, fraud detection, online fraud etc. can be controlled in the field of cyber security.
Education Sector: It can facilitate tasks like teaching management. It can also help in the operation of grading system and save time.
Agriculture Sector: It can be used to detect diseases in plants, pests, and poor plant nutrition. Farmers can analyze the weather conditions, temperature, and condition of the soil.
Banking Sector: Fraudulent activities can be detected through AI solutions. AI bots and digital payment advisers can create a high quality of service.
Social Media: Different social media websites such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc., use AI to make the user experiences much better by recommending posts, reels, tweets, etc. as per the user interest and search history.
Paragraph 4
Government’s support/involvement
A committee has been formed under the chairmanship of NITI Aayog’s Vice Chairman to outline the Artificial Intelligence Program at the national level.
In addition, the government plans to promote research, training, human resources and skill development in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Digital Manufacturing, Data Science, etc.
Paragraph 5
Advantages of AI
AI can reduce human error and be very helpful in risky situations where humans can't reach, such as exploring the deepest part of the sea, the highest peak of a mountain, etc.
24x7 support can be provided to the customers using AI-chatbots as customer care.
Repetitive actions can be boring for human beings, but with AI-enabled machines, they can be performed with full efficiency.
It can be helpful in virtual assistant technology like Google Assistant, Alexa, etc. to make our life easier.
Paragraph 6
Disadvantages of AI
The development and maintenance of AI systems are very expensive.
The dependencies of human beings on such technologies will make humans lazy.
AI-enabled robots can replace jobs and increase the unemployment.
There is always a fear with AI that if it gets advanced and understands humans for some reason or situation, it may be harmful to humanity.
If inputs are not fed correctly to AI systems, then it may cause harmful results.
Paragraph 7
Way forward/future of AI
In the future, intelligent machines will replace or enhance human capabilities in many areas. Application areas of AI are having a huge impact on various fields of life such as education, engineering, business, medicine, weather forecasting etc.
It can ruin our life, if we become completely dependent on machines. Also, it cannot give a human-like feeling. So machines should be used only where they are actually required.
Paragraph 8
Conclusion
Artificial Intelligence is undoubtedly a trending and emerging technology. It is growing very fast day by day, and it is enabling machines to mimic the human brain. It is in demand due to its high performance, and making human life easier.
Today, it is needed for development, but we also have to be careful about it, otherwise it can be a threat to human society.
